Privacy Policy

Art TV Companion (“the App”) helps you discover, crop, and display artwork on your television. We designed the experience so that almost everything happens on your device. This document explains what limited information we do collect, how we handle it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Anonymous download events. When you save an artwork to your “Art TV” album, the App sends an anonymous event to our telemetry service so we can understand which artworks are most popular. These events include a hashed artwork identifier, timestamp, and a randomly generated device session ID. They do not include your name, email, or any other personal identifier.
• On-device content. Your photo library, cropped artwork, remote config, and browsing history stay on your device. We do not upload your photos, TV profiles, or search terms to our servers.

How We Use the Information

• Improve curation. Aggregated download counts help us promote collections that resonate with the community and retire ones that underperform.
• Maintain reliability. Anonymous metrics help us detect bugs (e.g., failed downloads) and tune provider rate limits.

We do not build user profiles, run targeted advertising, sell data, or combine the anonymous metrics we collect with any personal identifiers.

Data Storage & Retention

• Anonymous download events are stored in Supabase (our managed backend) inside a regionally hosted PostgreSQL database. Access is restricted to the Art TV Companion engineering team.
• Events are retained for up to 18 months, after which they are automatically aggregated and the raw records are deleted.
• Locally cached artwork files remain on your device until you remove them via the App or your Photos app.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Provides our telemetry and configuration backend. It receives only the anonymous download payload described above.
• Art providers (e.g., public museum APIs, Unsplash): These services deliver artwork metadata and media directly to your device. We do not share any user-specific information with them.

Your Choices

• Opt out of telemetry: You can disable anonymous analytics anytime via Settings → Preferences → “Share anonymous download stats” (coming soon). Until that toggle ships, please contact us using the details below and we will purge all stored metrics associated with your device session ID.
• Delete local data: Remove any saved artwork directly from the Photos app by deleting items in the “Art TV” album.

Children's Privacy

Art TV Companion is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, when changes are material, notify you in-app before the new terms take effect.
